Res-Intel Reimagines Buildings for a Carbon Neutral Future At Epic Forum

This week, Res-Intel was one of a handful of California Energy Commissions awardees chosen to present at the virtual Electric Program Investment Charge (EPIC) forum. Joined by the Electric Power Research Institute, Hitachi, and Berkeley Labs, Res-Intel presented its tools for reducing greenhouse gas emissions through Artificial Intelligence.

Res-Intel identifies opportunities to lower energy consumption and change consumer behavior right now by creating a building census and mass-scale building energy benchmarking.

AI-generated algorithms determine property characteristics, including energy usage and what type of heating fuel a building has. Res-Intel then offers property-specific recommendations for retrofits, ultimately reducing load on the energy grid without requiring new infrastructure.

A carbon neutral future is absolutely necessary, and will require massive investments in retrofitting old buildings. Res-Intel is squeezing every drop of efficiency from available funding. Check out Res-Intel’s booth or see the video here:

Res-Intel is a national leader in mass-scale benchmarking of residential buildings. Its benchmarking engine provides micro-targeted recommendations for property owners and managers to cost-effectively reduce energy and water usage. The Res-Intel software platform has been partially funded under California Energy Commission Public Interest Energy Research grant #57356A/11-12 and #58076A/14-09G.
